The lore of the syndicate
Founded by Belinda Pfaffenbach of the Minnesota Pfaffenbach's, The Eagle River Syndicate took every available opportunity and grew at an alarming rate.
Belinda, straight out of service in the UEE started out by running an executive holiday encampment and nature preserve near a glacial runoff on Microtech. From rubbing shoulders with the elite of the verse, she built an enterprise into a galaxy-wide organization.
The camp was a networking opportunity that fed her with information and helped her both identify both close associates and potential targets for acquistion.
Now, wherever there is profit, of any kind, to be found in the verse, the Eagle River Syndicate will be nearby.
Present Day Eagle River Hotel Complex
Young Belinda
The astonishing growth of the syndicate has been the subject of much speculation and rumor.
The Microtech revenue service have investigated the syndicate's finances twice, but since the disapperance of their senior investigating officer, Morton Hildebrand, during a xenothreat incursion, all investigations have ceased.
The holiday camp has now been replaced with a modern hotel complex, boasting extensive accomodation and conference facilities for the elite.
Not much is known about the operations of the syndicate, rumour has it that the governing body comprises Belinda and seven senior officers. The heirachy appears to be militaristic in nature with 2 'Flag' officers acting as Belinda's right and left hands.
Present day board meeting
Each of the branches of the syndicate appears to have a seat at the table however, the flag officers seem to have daily overall control of the operations of the syndicate and the free reign to establish new relationships or bring the forces of the organization into conflicts as they see fit.
Syndicate members tend to be happy and remain with the syndicate for life. Belinda fosters a a postive atmosphere within the syndicate as a whole. Any issues between members in the organization are dealt with swiftly and effectivly by the leadership.
The syndicate celebrate success and have monthly meetings where they reward the members that have contributed to the organization.
They are well known for their annual Luminaria dinner and ball which is held at the Eagle River Hotel from which the organization takes its name.
The guest list at this dinner often includes senior UEE and Microtech officials.
Annual Luminaria Event
Since the formation, Belinda has had a key role in the development and direction of the syndicate. Recently she has been less present in the day-to-day management of the organization and has given a great deal of time to her passion of wild-life protection.
Her active campaigning for the protection of the Quantanium Hare using the full force of her fleet and marines lead to her incarceration in Klesher for a short time. More recently, the hunting of the Kopion on Microtech has gained her attention. Hunters on Microtech, especially in the Eagle River area, have been attacked and destroyed by syndicate patrols.
Belinda insists on a strong code of ethics within the Syndicate, their members are forthright and honourable in all transactions. Their forces have been known to run cargo inspections of traders and impose stiff penalties in some areas of space. However, payment to the syndicate has always resulted in safe passage and even increased security.
The syndicate is known for its graduate programs and apprenticeships, new citizens in the verse are welcomed and supported within the organization.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY
Rabinowitz, Trade and Industry
Know what I'm gonna do if we make it? I'm gonna go back to Eagle River and marry my gal, Edith Mae. Gonna get us a nice little place with a white picket fence. You know the kind. Two-car garage. Maybe a fishing boat. And in 15 years, when they're all paid for -- I'll set my charges and blow the s**t out of them.
Benson, Fleet
You know, I've personally flown over 194 missions and I was shot down every one of them. Come to think of it, I've never landed a ship in my life.
Topper Harley, Marines
Playing to lose is like sleeping with your sister. Sure she's a great piece of tail with a blouse full of goodies, but it's just illegal. Then you get into that whole inbred thing. Kids with no teeth who do nothing but play the banjo... eat apple sauce through a straw...
